Admission Criteria

Details of the admission criteria are within the table overleaf. In summary, Cestreham House will provide services to those who have enduring physical health problems. These conditions mayinclude genetic conditions (present since birth) such as severe Cerebral Palsy, acquired conditions where rehabilitation may be very slow, such as brain & spinal injuries or degenerative neurological conditions such as Parkinson’s disease, Multiple Sclerosis etc

The residents of Cestreham House will be severely affected by such conditions to the point where they require constant nursing care. The services offered will be long term care, slow stream rehabilitation leading to discharge and short term/respite care.

The latter is often required whilst their own property is being made disability friendly which sometimes requires significant building works, or whilst their permanent carers are taking a break.

Cestreham House is predominantly an adult facility. However one unit will be dedicated to the care and support of 15 – 18 year olds. People over the age of 65 years will only be admitted if their primary care need is in accordance with the admission criteria. The description of the units opposite sets out the criteria for each service.
